When I was little, I didn't even know what the word calories meant. Food didn't have the word calories labeled on every item. I didn't care what I looked like.
At a certain age and point in your life, you'll start looking at each food and wondering “what amount of calories are in this?” It's a bad habit and I would recommend everyone to skip this stage. This post is about body positivity. I'm going to tell you how to stay positive!
Letting people influence you on being “the right size” is awful. People's opinions shouldn't get to you. Whoever is saying anything about your size or anything they find to pick on you, it's usually because they are insecure about themselves and they aren't happy with the way they look, or they're jealous.
I was always insecure about my weight, it started in middle school. Girls got their growth spurts first. One day my mom and I were going to the doctor to get my physical done and, I would always look at the chart what weight I was supposed to be at a certain age and height. This BMI chart got so to my head, it carried to freshman year. I didn't want to cheer because I thought I was “too big”.
Be happy with yourself and find your self-love. Be confident in yourself and keep doing what you love doing.
I regret not cheering all my 4 years of high school because I thought a uniform wasn't going to fit. My advice to you is it talk to one of your close friends if you ever are going through this. I know a lot of teen girls think like this and it's not okay!
Baeleigh, I think this is such an important topic to talk about and I'm glad you are blogging about it for other teenagers who might be feeling this way. Even as a grown woman I struggle with body image and recognize it is something I need to be more positive about especially as a role model for my own daughter. This is such a great post and I hope more teens will read it!
