Be Mindful and less Stressful

Everyone has different levels of stress and everyone handles it differently. Being stressed might be from school, family, drama, sports, or college. The things that stress me the most are school assignments and family: my mom.

This weekend, my mom and I were fighting and stressed out to the point where I was ready to cry. I had no idea what to do. I stopped what I was doing, took a few deep breaths, and did what made me calm and forget about everything. That consists of:

  • Talking to your close friends about what's going on and what is making you upset/ mad.

  • Crying. Trust me, you will feel better.

  • Sleeping makes me forget about everything

  • Showering calms me down and relaxes me

Being stressed out makes your mental health not healthy. I’ll share some tips on what I do in situations to help you down below.

When I get overwhelmed or stressed, I do something that I enjoy to distract my brain from something else. For example, If I'm home, I go for a run when I get stressed, or I hit softballs. Because I enjoy doing that.

Family:

  • If someone is giving you a hard time in your family, do what makes you happy. Even if its watching tv, playing with your dog, going on your phone, or even doing yoga,

Drama:

  • The biggest thing you’ll learn in high school is to stay out of the drama. This comes with time and lessons. If you worry about yourself and not what people are saying about you, you will be more organized and less stressed.

Sports:

  • Maybe take a day off of practice. Your coaches will understand and they are worried about your mental health.

College:

  • Talk to your professors! They will understand and work with you to make

School assignments:

  • If you can't focus on a big school assignment here are some things you should take into consideration.

  • Taking a break from the assignment

  • Getting a snack

  • Getting a drink

  • Listening to music

  • Preferably songs that don't have words because if you know the songs you get distracted. (Classical music) is good to listen to.

  • Working on something else

  • (Working on a different school assignment)

What are some things you do when you're stressed out and how do they help

  1. I used to be ashamed of how much I cried but in reality it helped me so much. I always felt so relieved.
